We thought we would support our local koala rescue as their natural habitat is slowly decreasing and recent bush fires had left many koalas injured.
For the month of August we invited families and our team to bring in any old blankets or towels to donate to the koala rescue. We also collected gold coin donations from families and team members donated money to adopt a koala.
We raised $100 which enabled us to adopt two koalas! The children helped choose Patu and SES Maree for adoption. We also invited Jenny from Port Stephens Koalas to talk to the children about koalas, she told us about the leaves they like to eat, where they like to live and what to look for if you suspect a koala lives in a tree near you, poo!.
It was a great hands on opportunity for our little ones to learn about our native animals, as we know that when children are provided real hands on experiences they learn how to respect nature. We are very grateful for everyone’s support of our random act of kindness and hope that we can do more acts of service for our community.
